We already know that timber is superior to steel in every way, but now we can even apply their method of joinery to wood - that's right, apparently "wood welding" is now a reality!
In a process called "linear friction" wherein two objects are welded together by generating heat through mechanical friction, it is now possible to essentially "melt" or weld two pieces of wood together.
The technology is still being developed but someday “wood welding” may offer a fast, inexpensive, adhesive-free method for bonding wood.
